Makati to Laguna is about 40 kms, so that's 80 to-and-fro. Give or take 5 kms for the drive around Industrial Park, so say about 85 kms total. That means the Optra goes to about 16++ kms/liter. Wow. This is way better than the Petron XCS Commerical. LOL.

Sales Agent of the Year
"If you look at the interiors, very european design. Even the handling, it's really stable. That's how european cars are built now."
- Sales Agent, Chevrolet Makati, during the Optra's pre-release demonstration.
Note: I didn't know that Chevrolet is classified as a european car. Hmmm... We were looking at several makes and models, ie. the Ford Focus, Mazda3, and the 2006 Honda Civic. Coincidentally, I was hired as a Manager for 'the biggest and the best Call Center' and was assigned to an Automotive Account. When I found out that our company had a tie up (aka employee discounts) with General Motors, my wife and I decided to give the Chevrolet Optra a look.

We drove over to Chevrolet Makati and checked the Optra out. My wife and my Mom were very impressed with it - the italian inspired interiors, the spacious leg room, the ala-Cadillac rear, the new hood and grill fronts. Long story short, they wanted an Optra. Add the fact that Chevrolet was on a promo month - Free Insurance, Free Chattel Mortgage, and a Low Down Payment. I was also getting a year off the registration (I only paid for 2 years instead of the usual 3 years), 3M Tints (instead of the usual SolarGard), plus an additional 'x' thousand for my employee discount. We were decided. We're getting an Optra.

My wife wanted a Black 1.6LS, I wanted a Royal Gray 1.6L. Our sales agent told us that Royal Gray isn't available in the L Variant. My wife won. We got a Black 1.6LS.

My Mom, on the other hand, got a Metallic Silver 1.6LS Optra Wagon.

A couple of days before the car's release, my brother went with my Mom to see what the fuss was all about. When he left the dealer, he also placed an order for a Black 1.6LS. LOL.

Pictures to follow...
